The authorities arrested a man for posting lese majeste on Facebook and said he was part of a movement to discredit the Thai monarchy on the Internet.
The police from Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) on Wednesday held a press conference on the arrest Jamroen S., a middle age man accused of using the facebook profile titled ‘Uncha Unyo’ to post and share lese majeste contents.
Jamroen, a northeastern Sa Kaeo Province native, was arrested a few days earlier by the TCSD police and military officers. He admitted that he was the one who shared the alleged lese majeste contents online and cited that he had been doing it for a year.
According to Pol Maj Gen Siripong Timula, the Deputy-Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), the suspect is connected to Pongsak S., another lese majeste suspect arrested earlier for posting lese majeste contents on the facebook profile titled ‘Sam Parr’.
The police accused Pongsak S., of offences under Article 112 or the lese majeste law and Article 14 of the Computer Crime Act (importing of illegal content into a the computer system.)
Siripong said Jamroen compiled lese majeste content before sending them to Pongsak through facebook chat. Pongsak would then modified the content for publicizing on Facebook.
The police said the two were part of a movement to undermining the monarchy on the Internet. Two to three more people in the movement are still at large but the police are catching them.
