The embattled Phue Thai politician Watana Muangsuk said nine people have been summoned and eight of them have been detained after they inspected a state’s alleged corrupted project in Thailand’s Northcentral.

On Wednesday, 11 May 2016, Watana Muangsook, Phue Thai politician, posted on his Facebook that nine villagers and local politicians were summoned into a military camp after they visited a state of state-commissioned project to dig a canal in the central province of Phitsanulok .

The nine, together with Pheu Thai politicians, visited the area since they suspected that the project was corrupted. The project rarely has a progress while it was supposed to be finished within 30 November 2015, observed Watana.

According to Watana, the junta granted gave the licence of the project to the War Veteran Organization (WVO), which has no experience in dredging project at all. The project costs more than nine million baht.

On the same day, the Pheu Thai Party urged the junta to release the nine and said that they would file a complaint to the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Auditor General of Thailand for the further investigation on the project, reported Matichon Online.
