Leading anti-junta activist groups has planned to gather at Ratchaprasong Intersection in central Bangkok from 5-6 pm on 18 January 2017 to support Jatuphat ‘Pai’ Boonpattararaksa.
The organisers of the event are the New Democracy Movement (NDM) in which Jatuphat is a member of and Resistant Citizen, another well-known anti-junta group.
The title of the event for the detained activist is ‘Anything for Pai’.
The group will gather at the skywalk of the intersection to write postcards and perform other activities for the activist.
Jatuphat, a key member of the New Democracy Movement (NDM), was the first person charged with lèse majesté under the reign of King Vajiralongkorn.
He was accused of violating Article 112 of the Criminal Code for sharing on his Facebook account a controversial biography of the King published by BBC Thai.
