Thai police on Friday filed more charges against Former Education Minister Chaturon Chaisang. He is now facing maximum jail terms of 14 years.

The police charged Chaturon under Article 14 of the Computer Crime Act for his Facebook posts of his anti-coup statement.

He was previously charged with defying the junta’s order and under Article 116 in the Criminal Code for sedition. He faces three charges in total.

The statement was published when the former minister gave a speech at the Foreign Correspondent Club of Thailand (FCCT) on May 28, shortly before the military arrested him at the club in front of almost a hundred foreign and local journalists.

Chaturon was one of the first of those summoned by the military. He hid for a few days before appeared at the FCCT and giving anti-coup statement, saying that he would not turn himself in, and would not resist if he was arrested.

The Martial Court on Friday renewed the petition custody for Chaturon. He was released on bail under the conditions that he will not leave the country and stop political activities.

He will have to report himself again on July 2.
