A man involved in art activism reported himself to the 33rd Army circle 33 in Chiang Mai on Tuesday morning after he got summons order from the Army a day earlier.

Dollapak Suwanpanya, a former student at Chiang Mai University, said after being released around 1 p.m. of the same day that he was inquired about the campaign activities organised in Chiang Mai, such as art exhibitions and cultural jamming that may be deemed violating lèse majesté law.

He was also inquired about the film screening of George Orwell’s 1984 film, due to take place earlier this month but it was later cancelled after pressure from the military. The military officers used some photos taken from Facebook as evidences as they interviewed Dollapak.

Another three journalists, two from the local online news Prachatham and one stringer for Prachatai who accompanied him, were also inquired and asked to register the form for further inquiries.

The authorities said they would summon Bodin Theparat, an organiser of the film screening, founder of the “Punya Movie Club” and a drug store owner for further interview.
